The IMHPP was founded to challenge systemic inequality and fragmentation across mental health systems. We’re a values-led charity working to build inclusive frameworks through policy development, strategic consultancy and collaborative research.
Our charity is governed in three ways:
Advance equitable, rights-based mental health policy and practice through research strategic advisory services and cross-sector partnerships.
A society where mental health systems are inclusive of all communities, grounded in evidence and accountable for reducing inequalities and improving wellbeing the wider public.
The Board of Trustees meets quarterly to provide strategic oversight, ensure legal compliance and uphold the charitable mission.
Each trustee chairs a dedicated subcommittee covering key areas such as finance, policy and audit, HR, impact and organisational development, where deeper work on governance and institutional integrity is carried out.
The Advisory Council plays a consultative and shaping role across all IMHPP activity. Council members bring sector expertise and lived experience to guide decision-making and policy development.
The Council meets quarterly but also operates flexibly through working groups and one-to-one consultative input, helping IMHPP remain responsive, inclusive and contextually aware.
The Research Council governs the approval and publication of all IMHPP research outputs. It reviews submissions from Networks and SIGs, coordinates internal and external peer reviews, and ensures compliance with ethics protocols.
Beyond publication approval, the Council also publishes IMHPP’s internal ethics policies and methodology standards.
The Council convenes at key stages in the publication cycle and liaises with the Advisory Council and relevant Trustees as needed.
